Fireworks on the River Thames, Fantastic!

Today was another beautiful day in London. The sun decided to show its lovely face once again.  It was rather cool but there was sun! It was a good day to stroll through a park! So I set off for Regent’s Park on recommendation of a friend. I was originally going to head to Hyde Park. Many more days to explore that though. There’s a few photos of it. The grass is so green its unbelievable. Much better than that scraggly brown stuff that i left at home.

Today was also the continuation of the Thames Festival. The closing of the festival is always marked by fireworks. They were set off from a few barges along the Thames. I made my way there in what I thought to be enough time but the full moon had other ideas. There was a disabled train on the Circle Line going clockwise, the direction I needed to go. So I had to wiggle my way down to the river taking quite a few lines, getting mixed up but finally arriving slightly late to the show. Thankfully the show was a bit delayed as well. FANTASTIC! There were 15 minutes of constant fireworks, the sound of each echoing off the historic buildings. It can get much better than this I thought.

Tomorrow starts my second week of classes. We have a scheduled theatre performance “The Woman in Black” tomorrow evening and I’m participating in a Jack the Ripper walk Tuesday. Other than that it should be a quiet week. I’ll update when I can and when I have material. Goodnight guys!

Today I participated on a guided tour of the major sights around the city. Capa organized this event and it was free, so why not? Photos can be seen by clicking the photos link at the top of the page. I’ve found it easier to view them as a slide show. The link is next to the album name. CHECK IT OUT!

I’ll also be starting an album for all of the cars I’ve seen around. I won’t post updates about it, just be sure to check that album every now and then for some great looking cars. Come on, you know I couldn’t resist taking pictures of some of them.

The first rainy day of many

September 5th, 2008 1 comment

This morning I woke up to nothing less than a dreary sky, wet pavement, and falling rain. I knew it was only time until this happened! Thankfully by the time I ate breakfast and got ready the rain had stopped. I ventured up to the shops in Islington. We desperately needed soap for the dishwasher and I just couldn’t sit around.

On my way back I snapped a picture coming down City Road, this is heading towards Old Street:

I do miss the sun!

Here is the building where I live. It’s a really nice place and placed in a great location.

Tonight we venture into The City for a reception and tomorrow is a bus tour around the city. Stay tuned for many pictures!

UPDATE: There’s a few pictures uploaded. Click Photos to check them out. Not many yet, stay tuned though!
