A touch of Christmas Spirit

November 1st, 2008 No comments

It’s coming sooner than you think. Well, actually it’s still a bit off but not in London today. Harrod’s held their annual Christmas Parade this morning to welcome Father Christmas to his ‘grotto’ on the fourth floor. I was up early this morning (6am) after a night out for Halloween (no easy task) to meet some people to head over. It was a brisk 32° this morning when we departed.

We arrived with plenty of time to spare and took in the full scene. Everything started with entertainment on the streets, clowns, bears, RUDOLF, and some other things. Balloons and goodies were handed out. The parade then kicked off with a marching band playing Christmas tunes, some fairy tail characters, dancers, horses, with a dash of Mrs. Claus. Finally some reindeer were led through and the fat old man himself passed by! Sadly he was on a wheeled coach and not a sleigh. He can now be found on the fourth floor listening to kids and their Christmas lists. Poor guy…

After that I headed back to my flat. I was cold and tired. I slept till noon, grabbed some lunch and headed towards Canary Wharf. I walked through the Stuff Live! electronics show. I found it highly overpriced for what it was but it was cool to see some of the technology that is new and upcoming. Unfortunately most things were quite expensive and had a UK plug attached to them. No problem I don’t need to be buying that stuff anyways!!

Tomorrow is a Top Gear day! I’ll be attending Top Gear Live at the Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre and the new series starts tomorrow evening. Quite a day indeed!
